On June 6th, 2024, CLEAR was proud to host its 2nd Annual Research Update at the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health at the University of British Columbia.
In a room filled with supporters, attendees heard compelling research presentations that showcased the incredible momentum in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
Dr. Anthony Phillips shared promising findings on a potential new treatment targeting cognitive deficits in Alzheimer’s—offering real hope for improving quality of life. Dr. Freda Miller and Dr. Brian MacVicar followed with an insightful presentation on their work uncovering therapeutic targets to alleviate neuroinflammation, a major contributor to Alzheimer’s disease progression.
Equally moving was the heartfelt story shared by Heather Sosa, a dedicated CLEAR supporter and caregiver to her husband, Curt, who was diagnosed with early-onset dementia at just 54. Her words reminded us all why this research matters—every breakthrough is personal, every discovery, a step toward relief for families like hers.
Guests also had the opportunity to attend behind-the-scenes lab tours led by CLEAR-funded researchers, offering an up-close look at the science their support is making possible—and the people behind it.
Together, we are untangling the complexities of this disease—one discovery at a time.
