A new chapter in leadership

CLEAR Foundation (Canadians for Leading Edge Alzheimer Research) is pleased to welcome Christie Buono as its new Executive Director, bringing experienced leadership to guide the organization’s continued growth and advance its mission of funding high-impact dementia research in Canada.

Welcoming Christie Buono

Christie joined CLEAR on September 28, 2026, bringing more than 15 years of experience across the corporate and non-profit sectors. Her career has focused on building strong organizations, cultivating meaningful partnerships and bringing people together around a shared vision.

Most recently, Christie held senior leadership roles with Make-A-Wish Canada, including leading its BC & Yukon Chapter through significant growth and transformation. Her mandate later expanded nationally, and she helped establish the organization’s philanthropy department and shape strategies to increase investment across Canada.

She has also held senior roles with the BC Women’s Health Foundation and the BC Lions Football Club, developing high-performing teams, strengthening relationships and turning ambitious ideas into lasting impact.

Rooted in personal experience, guided by purpose

For Christie, CLEAR’s mission is deeply personal.

“My Nonna (grandmother) lived with dementia, so I understand firsthand the impact the disease can have not only on the person diagnosed, but on the people and families who love them.”

She describes her approach to leadership as “heart-centred boldness,” a philosophy grounded in courage, empathy and purpose.

As Executive Director, Christie will work alongside CLEAR’s Board, team, partners, donors and research community to build on the Foundation’s momentum and advance our shared vision of a future beyond dementia

We look forward to introducing Christie to more members of the CLEAR community and working together to advance the next chapter of dementia research.

Christie welcomes the opportunity to connect and can be reached at christiebuono@clearalzheimers.ca.
